Prince William Danced Like a Dorky Dad at the Eras Tour, and There’s Video

Guess he inherited his mother’s love of dance! Prince William, heir to the British throne and father of three, put his dorky dad dance moves on full display when he and two of his children attended Taylor Swift’s concert at Wembley Stadium in London. As captured by a fan video, he shimmied his way through “Shake It Off” from the balcony, rather than the VIP tent. It was also William’s birthday!

On TikTok, viewers agreed that this is about par for the course for the royal family, who have never been known for their, uh, hipness. “he dances exactly how I expected him to dance,” wrote one commenter. “Using the moves from his feral clubbing era,” added another.

Prince William took his older son, Prince George, and daughter Princess Charlotte to the concert, which may have been a bit much and a bit long for his youngest, Prince Louis, who is only six, but already a dancer himself! As another viral video shows, father and son have the same wiggly style of dancing, and it’s pretty adorable (the Louis clip is from Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022, per People).

This actually isn’t the first time that Taylor Swift has brought out the performer in Wills. She and fellow musician Jon Bon Jovi both performed at a charity event at Kensington Palace in 2013, the outlet reported, where suddenly the royal found himself onstage with them.

William revealed in the Apple Fitness+’s Time to Walk series, “When I sat down to watch Jon Bon Jovi do his performance, I thought, ‘That’s it. My job is done…I’m off-duty a little bit now.’ Little did I think what was going to happen next. I’m sat next to Taylor Swift. She’s on my left. And after Jon does his first song, there’s a pause and she turns to me. She puts her hand on my arm, looks me in the eye, and says, ‘Come on, William. Let’s go and sing.’”

“To this day, I still do not know what came over me,” the royal continued. “Honestly, even now, I’m cringing at what happened next, and I don’t understand why I gave in. But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, ‘Come with me…’ I got up like a puppy and went, ‘Yeah, okay, that seems like a great idea. I’ll follow you.’”

Don’t fret, bro. Taylor brings out the happy cringe in all of us. Just look at England’s other prince, Sir Paul McCartney, jamming out to “But Daddy, I Love Him.”

Beautiful.
