Princess Kate greets public for first time since cancer reveal

Kate, the Princess of Wales, took part in the annual “Trooping the Colour” ceremony Saturday to honor King Charles III’s 75th birthday.

The event, complete with a military parade, is her first public appearance since revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year. It also serves as a show of stability for the royal family as both Kate and king undergo cancer treatments.

The princess — who is married to heir to the throne Prince William — gave a rare health update Friday, saying she was improving, but “not out of the woods yet.”

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” Kate, 42, said in a message posted Friday on Kensington Palace’s social media platform X account.

She also shared her gratitude to those who have sent messages of support, adding that it has “made a world of difference” to her family as they continue to navigate through the illness.

Kate’s diagnosis was unveiled in March after weeks of speculation and conspiracy theories sparked after she disappeared from the public eye and a digitally altered family photo made the rounds on social media. She later apologized for the confusion over the image.

The mom of three said the cancer was discovered following a January hospitalization for abdominal surgery. The type of cancer has not been disclosed for either member of the royal family.

The first public view of the princess came when she traveled in a horse-drawn carriage from Buckingham Palace to the grand avenue with her children, The Associated Press reported. Wearing a white dress and wide-brimmed hat, she waved as bystanders cheered.

Later, she joined her family on the balcony of the palace to watch the British military planes fly by in honor of the king’s birthday.
