Priyanka Chopra paid tribute to Kobe Bryant with her manicure at the Grammys

Celebrities honoured legendary athlete Kobe Bryant at the 2020 Grammy Awards last night, in the stadium he built his career in.

The NBA star, who yesterday died in a tragic helicopter accident alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant, was celebrated at the ceremony held in the Staples Center, the home stadium of the Los Angeles Lakers.

One visual tribute to the basketball legend came from actress Priyanka Chopra, who sported his jersey number, '24' on her manicure.

Chopra earlier wrote a heartfelt message alongside pictures of Bryant on her Instagram feed, explaining how "his legacy is so much bigger than basketball".

Kobe Bryant was my first real introduction to the NBA. I was 13 living in Queens NYC, the same age as his sweet little girl, Gianna. He ignited my love for the sport, competition, and striving for excellence. He inspired an entire generation. His legacy is so much bigger than basketball. This heartbreaking accident also took the life of his young daughter, Gianna. I’m shook and so saddened. My heart goes out to Vanessa, Natalia, Bianka, and Capri Bryant. You are in my thoughts. Also sending my condolences to the loved ones of the other family and pilot in the accident. Alongside his brothers, Chopra's husband, Nick Jonas, cancelled all interviews on the Grammys red carpet out of respect for Bryant.

The Jonas Brothers also wore purple ribbons, a nod to the iconic Lakers uniform.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -A U.S. federal appeals court on Friday upheld the conviction of Steve Bannon, a former top adviser to former President Donald Trump, for defying a subpoena from the congressional panel that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The ruling brings Bannon a step closer to serving a four-month prison sentence for contempt of Congress, but he can still mount additional appeals.
