Protester Hits MP In Face With Pink Sex Toy

This is the moment a politician in New Zealand was hit in the face by a sex toy thrown by a protester.

Steven Joyce, 52, was holding a press conference in Waitangi when a woman yelled: “That’s for raping our sovereignty”.

She then lobbed the pink object at the minster for economic development, before being led away by police.

It is thought the woman is referring to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, one of the biggest multinational trade deals ever, which was signed in Auckland yesterday.

The minister had been speaking with reporters about Prime Minister John Key’s decision not to attend Friday’s event for Waitangi Day, which marks the signing of a treaty between New Zealand’s settlers and the Maori people.

However, Joyce, a member of the New Zealand National Party, seem to take the incident in his stride.

He told journalists: “Fair to say, I don’t think those sorts of things happen every day.

"We actually thought it was a little bit humorous at the end of it all… new experiences in politics every day, it’s the privilege of serving.”

He also tweeted that someone should send the gif to John Oliver from HBO’s Last Week Tonight “so we can get it over with”.

Oliver has previously taken aim at New Zealand and Key in particular, mocking the country’s flag referendum.
