RCMP say 36-year-old man dead after shooting near Halifax

NORTH PRESTON, N.S. — Halifax-area RCMP say they are investigating a fatal shooting in North Preston, N.S.

Police say they received a report late Wednesday that a man had been shot on Downey Road in the community outside Halifax.

Upon arrival, police say they found a 36-year-old man from nearby Westphal, N.S., with gunshot wounds, and officers immediately began first aid.

The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the death is being investigated as a homicide and they do not believe the shooting was the result of a random act.

Evidence gathered at the scene indicates that multiple shots were fired.
