Ready for Sacramento Kings in the playoffs? Where to get team’s best clothes, merchandise

Finally, Sacramento can root for its Kings during playoff basketball. Now fans just need to look the part.

As the Kings head to their first playoffs in 16 seasons — as the No. 3-seed in a competitive Western Conference, no less — those Chris Webber or Bonzi Wells jerseys could be feeling a little snug. Head out to a nearby store or hit the web if it’s time to pick up some new Kings clothing.

Here’s where to find the best merch to root for the guys in purple.

Team store

First and most legit, the Kings’ official team store has everything from throwback Swingman jerseys to branded workout clothes. It’s the best place to go for the widest range of well-made Kings apparel, including that of favorite players like Davion Mitchell and Trey Lyles.

Prices tend to be a little higher than other stores, but you’re paying for quality as well as options. You can visit the Kings’ store in person at 500 David J. Stern Walk next to Golden 1 Center, or online at https://www.kingsteamstore.com.

In-person shopping at other stores

You can pick up Kings shirts, sweatshirts and more at several mall staples that still have brick-and-mortar stores within the Sacramento area.

Macy’s, Lids, Dick’s Sporting Goods, JC Penney and Kohl’s all carry selections of team gear to outfit you from head to toe. You might see a Keegan Murray shirt, baby blue throwback shorts from Mitchell & Ness or a New Era snapback hat with the Kings logo, depending on the store.

You’ll even come across Kings swag while shopping for household staples at Walmart and Target in the Sacramento area. These retailers offer some of the best deals around, but you won’t find the same breadth of selection as some others.

Local stores

Shopping local is great when possible, and a few Sacramento-specific clothing stores can fill your Kings needs.

Sacramento Sports and Souvenirs is a smorgasbord of Kings fan essentials (and that of other teams) in Old Sacramento, and City Fitted Urban Streetwear carries a good selection of team hats across the river in West Sacramento.

Thrift shop selections always vary, but 1 Up Retro Clothing often offers some used Kings swag at its North Oak Park store or at area pop-ups.

Longtime Sacramento streetwear shop Getta Clue closed its Downtown Commons store last year, but still sells Kings gear in Arden Fair mall. And California chain Sports Fever sells De’Aaron Fox socks and more out from its neighboring stores in the mall as well as Westfield Galleria at Roseville.

Online shopping

The internet-only marketplace has the most options out there. It’s also home to the most creative, unique Kings clothing available.

You’ll find Slamson growling on a Homage T-shirt, De’Aaron as a literal Fox on Teepublic and an Etsy seller hawking crew neck sweatshirts portraying the team as Star Wars characters (with purple lightsabers, of course).

Boutique production and shipping costs — particularly for expedited delivery to wear in during Round One of the playoffs — can make these more expensive options, though sales are common. You also lose the opportunity to try on clothes and check for quality before purchase.
