Rebel Wilson is opening up about her experience in the cult-classic comedy Bridesmaids.

In her new memoir, Rebel Rising, the 44-year-old Australian actress revealed that she was paid $3,500 for her role in the film, which also starred Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph.

Wilson's book revealed a slew of other bombshells, such as the fact that she didn't lose her virginity until age 35. She also opened up about her complicated relationship with her father and her experience working with Sacha Baron Cohen.

This week, Wilson appeared on the Monday, May 6 episode of the “Diary of a CEO” podcast, where she said she actually lost money on the job after buying a dress for the movie premiere.

“It was my first job in America,” she told host Steven Bartlett. “I mean, it was very lucky to get it… But to be paid that little. Basically, that $3,500 I then had to pay to the union to join the union. So I basically made no money. I lost money, because I had to pay to go to the premiere, like to buy my dress and everything. So, I lost money doing Bridesmaids.”

Wilson added that in the year it took for the 2011 film to come out, she was living on an extremely low budget.

“That was a really skint year where I was living on $60 a week in L.A. once I’d paid my rent and my car hire,” she recalled. “I wasn’t partying or living this [movie star] life. It was basically having that focus, trying to write for myself, going to auditions.”

The star also recognized that while she may have lost money on Bridesmaids, the breakout role led her to bigger opportunities — and bigger paychecks.

“I booked six movies off the back of [Bridesmaids], one of which was Pitch Perfect, which was kind of my real golden ticket,” she said.

Wilson appeared in the hugely popular musical comedy franchise Pitch Perfect alongside Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow. There have been three films released so far (in 2012, 2015 and 2017), with fans clamoring for additional installments.
