Police charge husband in death of Regina woman Sandeep Tehara

Police have charged the husband of a woman found dead on Sunday in Regina with second-degree murder.

Officers were called to the home on the 200 block of Upland Drive at 4:23 a.m. CST Sunday to check on the well-being of the people inside.

They found the body of of Sandeep Tehara, 38, inside.

Her husband, Jagdish Singh Tehara, 39, has been charged with second-degree murder.

He appeared in Regina provincial court on Tuesday, where court heard he's seeking legal representation.

He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance May 31.

Neighbour describes scene

Jim Azcueta lives close to the house where the body was found.

He said he woke up Sunday morning just before 6 a.m. CST to see about a half dozen police cars and the neighbour's house taped off.

"The first thing that comes to mind, like, something really serious happened. Probably a crime. I came out the door and I saw all the police standing right here," he said.

Azcueta said nothing like this has happened since he moved to the neighbourhood. But with young children at home, the incident is a concern.

"My son, he used to play with one of the kids over there," he said. "Everyone's wondering what happened."

Investigation underway

The police service's major crimes and forensic identification units are investigating, as is the coroner's office.
