Report: Pelicans hiring Nets' Langdon as GM

The New Orleans Pelicans are hiring Brooklyn Nets assistant general manager Trajan Langdon to be their new general manager, The Athletic reported Sunday.

The 43-year-old Langdon has been with the Nets since March 2016.

The former Duke standout and first-round NBA draft pick will work alongside executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Langdon's hire caps one of the most important weeks in franchise history, with the Pelicans winning the NBA Draft lottery Tuesday and the opportunity to add consensus No. 1 pick Zion Williamson of Duke.

Langdon was the 11th overall pick in 1999 and played three seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers before continuing his professional career overseas in Italy, Turkey and Russia.

After his playing career ended in 2011, he worked as a scout for the San Antonio Spurs from 2012-15.
