The Responder season 2 confirms release date
The Responder is coming back for a second season next month.
Martin Freeman reprises the role of PC Chris Carson, a first responder who struggles through a series of intense night shifts in Liverpool city centre.
The new season, set to debut on BBC iPlayer on May 5, sees the morally dubious Carson, a police officer demoted from his role as an inspector, confronting his father about their family past, as well as butting heads with his wife Kate (The Witcher's MyAnna Buring) over their daughter's future.

Meanwhile, the clip includes scenes of Carson in therapy and on the job, bonding with his idealistic partner Rachel Hargreaves (Adelayo Adedayo).
Premiered in 2022, the first season followed Carson making questionable decisions, crossing drug dealer Carl Sweeney (Ian Hart) to help local addict Casey (Emily Fairn), with the consequences of the first responder's actions reverberating in this new season.
Luther star Warren Brown, The Alienist actor Philip S McGuinness, Trollied's Faye McKeever, Route Irish star Mark Womack, and Bodies actor Amaka Okafor are also returning in their roles from season one.
Newcomers include Chernobyl's Adam Nagaitis, Lord of the Rings star Bernard Hill, and Pennyworth's Ian Puleston-Davies.

The synopsis for round two of The Responder previously confirmed that the new episodes pick up six months after the events of the first season.
"[Carson] is trying to be a better police officer, a better man, and most importantly, a better father to his daughter Tilly," the logline reads.
"All whilst still dealing with the relentless trauma of being a night response officer. Chris wants a day job. Chris needs a day job. But is he prepared to risk everything to get one?"
The Responder season two will become available to stream on iPlayer from May 5. Season one is available on the same platform.
