Man charged in brother's stabbing death

A man who was seriously assaulted at a home on Lindsay Street in Winnipeg has died.

A 25-year-old man has died after being stabbed during a family Thanksgiving gathering that turned ugly on Monday.

The man's 22-year-old brother is now charged with manslaughter.

According to police, several family members were together in the 100 block of Lindsay Street, in Winnipeg's River Heights neighbourhood.

At about 2 a.m. the brothers became involved in a verbal dispute that quickly escalated.

Other family members attempted to intervene but the 22-year-old armed himself with a knife and stabbed his brother, police said.

The victim, Christopher Barry Larche, was found by police in the front yard of the home.

He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but died later that same day.

Investigators remained at the scene Tuesday morning where the home remained taped-off.

Larche's death is the city's 24th homicide of the year.

His brother, Justin Frederick Larche, has been detained in police custody.
