Roar! Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara Look Fierce on the Lion Red Carpet at Toronto
Hear the ladies of Lion roar!
Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara, costars in Garth Davis' Lion, looked stunning at the film's premiere Saturday night at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Mara matched the carpet in a cherry red dress, which featured caped shoulders and a scalloped thigh slit. Kidman donned a sequined and sheer striped maroon long-sleeve dress with a turtleneck.
Slumdog Millionaire'sDev Patel also looked sharp on the carpet, wearing a gray suit jacket with black slacks and still sporting his mane (the actor grew out his beard and locks for the role).
Lion is based on the true story of Saroo Brierley (Patel), who grew up in a poor but loving single-parent home in India. At the age of 5, Brierley fell asleep in an empty train car near his village and when he awoke, he was a thousand miles away in the city of Calcutta.
Unable to speak the language and separated from his family, Brierley was ultimately placed in an orphanage and adopted by an Australian couple, played by Kidman and David Wenham.

Twenty years after his adoption, Brierley decides to go on a mission to track down his original home and family using Google Earth.
Kidman worked closely with child actor Sunny Pawar, who plays a young Brierley in the film. Although the first-time actor doesn't speak English, the two bonded by playing cricket.
"My throw is terrible and Sunny would laugh at me, which was endearing," the Oscar winner told USA Today. "Sunny is this little light and he makes the huge story leap very believable from small Saroo to big Saroo."

Adapted from Brierley's own 2013 memoir, A Long Way Home, the film was written for the screen by Luke Davies and directed by first-timer Garth Davis.
Lion hits theaters Nov. 25.
