Rollover ATV crash on Memorial Day kills elderly woman in Northern California, CHP says
A 70-year-old woman was killed on Memorial Day after her ATV rolled over on a private property in Nevada County, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officers were called 8:50 a.m. to a home on Springfield Drive, east of Dog Bar Road for a report of an ATV crash. Susan McFarlane, 70, was driving a 2003 Yamaha Kodiak when she executed an “unsafe turning movement,” said Officer Jason Bice, a spokesman for the CHP’s Grass Valley office.
McFarlane was ejected from the ATV as it rolled over, suffering head and neck injuries while not wearing a helmet. She died at the scene, Bice said.
The crash is under investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the crash.
