Rugby sevens Olympic bronze medallist, Charity Williams, reunites with family in Toronto

Canadian rugby sevens athlete Charity Williams reunited with her family at Pearson International Airport Tuesday morning, to celebrate the first-ever Olympic bronze medal in her sport..

"It was breathtaking playing out there and bringing this home; it's an honour for everybody in Canada, I'm so happy I could do it for everybody." Williams told CBC News after stepping off the flight from Rio.

Mary Ann Scott, Charity Williams's mother, was in Brazil when her daughter captured the historic bronze medal alongside her teammates.

"I am so proud," said Scott.

"Watching them go on the podium it was just an amazing experience for all those women, those 12 girls who played their hearts out to get that bronze medal," said Scott.

Scott arrived back in Toronto a few days prior to her daughter's homecoming and she was joined by her three other daughters at the airport on Tuesday.

Rugby runs in the family, Williams' younger sister Faith plays rugby fifteens, which she hopes becomes a competition at the Olympics one day.

"She's really wanted this, from when we were younger she always said, 'I want to be in the Olympics, I want to be in the Olympics,' and she finally made it so I'm really proud of her," Faith Williams said.

Charity Williams says the first thing she will do being back at home is support her younger sister Tuesday night at her last rugby game of the season.
