Police identify victim in 'ambush-style' Scarborough shooting

Police have identified the man killed in a shooting last night in Scarborough.

They say 21-year-old Kevaughn Morgan was killed in an "ambush-style" attack around 10:20 p.m. Thursday.

Toronto police were called for reports of shots fired at an address on Rushley Drive at Lawrence Avenue East.

That's where they found a man with at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to hospital without vital signs. On Friday morning, police told CBC News the man did not survive.

Police described the suspect as a black man, 20 to 25 years old, six-feet tall, medium build with short, dark hair. He was wearing a gray or light-coloured long track pants, a gray or white striped shirt and white running shoes.

He was last seen running southbound on Marcos Boulevard from Lawrence Avenue East.

Alex Konoplyanyy lives five doors down from where the shooting happened and said he heard two shots and saw two people running. He ran to help and saw a man bleeding on the ground with his friend by his side.

"They were just walking. They weren't even talking to these guys or anything. They were just walking and he got shot in the back. He got shot in the back and they just ran away," he said.
