See Marvin Bagley’s resort-like Elk Grove home: Jumbotron, court, scoreboard and more

The sensational Elk Grove home of former Sacramento Kings center Marvin Bagley III — with a resort-style backyard that includes a waterproof jumbotron over a pool, a purple NBA-sized basketball court with bleachers and large scoreboard, and a guest house — is quickly under contract after being on the market for a week at the asking price of just under $2 million.

Job relocation might describe why the athlete is selling the home — Bagley was traded to the Detroit Pistons in 2022. The Kings picked Bagley No. 2 overall in the 2018 NBA Draft after the 6-foot-10 big man’s sensational college year at Duke University.

Elk Grove is a city about 17 miles south of Sacramento, California.

This two-acre, multi-family property totals more than 6,800 square feet of living space spread over two homes. The main residence spans 4,500-square-feet with three primary bedrooms in addition to two others. The detached second home contains four bedrooms and three full baths. Set up for multi-generational living, the gated, private retreat has nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms in all.

Hibachi grill, TV built in tree

Outside, there is a hibachi grill near the pool with a television built into a tree, and three outdoor bars.

RE/MAX Gold listing agent Matthew Hindy, who has represented many people in the Kings organization, sold the residence to Bagley in 2018. He said the basketball player spent between $250,000 and $300,000 to upgrade the outdoor amenities beyond the existing pool.

“(The property) is good for multi-generational use, if someone has in-laws or parents or kids or grandkids that can occupy one home and then the main member can occupy the other,” Hindy said. “So that’s a huge amenity, a huge plus, and then it does have a $60,000 outdoor jumbotron that was installed where you can watch or play any game. It’s something that you see in the movies, or in L.A. .or Miami. I’ve sold over 300 houses and I’ve never seen anything close to this. It’s really living like a king, that kind of style.

“And then it has the full court basketball with the bleachers and the scoreboard,” he added. “I see full-court basketball (at some homes), but I don’t see bleachers or a scoreboard. Then, it has the pool — it has so many cool amenities. It’s great for hosting (parties).”

Strong home buyer interest

The home has a movie theater inside. There is livestock space available on the acreage and three entry gates to the property. Furniture is included “with the right offer,” according to the listing.

The interest in the compound was strong from the day it was listed.

“We had probably over 100 showings in the first week, so we had a few offers that came in,” said listing agent Matthew Hindy of RE/MAX Gold, who’s represented many people in the Kings organization. “We’ve been in contract for a few weeks. Things are looking optimistic, so we might be closing probably in the next 10 to 14 days.”
