Charges laid in fatal Kingsville crash

Seven people have been sent to hospital after a crash involving three vehicles in Kingsville.

The collision happened around 6 a.m. on Essex County Road 18 and involved two passenger vehicles and a tractor trailer, according to OPP Sgt. Joe Moniz.

"We located three vehicles involved," he said. "There were multiple injuries in the collision … ranging from minor to life threatening."

A silver minivan, its doors torn off and front end crumpled by the impact, was partially wedged under the tractor trailer.

A blue car with a crushed hood surrounded by wreckage was resting behind it.

The truck driver was still on scene around 8 a.m. and told CBC News he was backing into a nearby construction site to deliver supplies when his vehicle was struck.

Essex County Road 18 is closed between County Roads 34 and 31 while police investigate.
