Severe storms with threat of large hail in North Texas weather forecast Saturday, Sunday

More storms are in the forecast Saturday night and Sunday morning for North Texas, and some of them could be severe with large hail and damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

Storms started forming west of Dallas-Fort Worth around 5 p.m. and moved east, according to NWS meteorologist Hunter Reeves.

Tarrant and Dallas counties have been added to a severe thunderstorm watch that will continue through 4 a.m. Sunday.

Reeves said the greatest threat from this latest round of storms is damaging wind and hail, though the hail could be smaller by the time it gets to the Metroplex. Rain could also cause some nuisance flooding in low-lying areas, but the threat of tornadoes is low.
