Shannen Doherty Jokes She and Tori Spelling Shared Brian Austin Green’s 'Saliva' After Romances with Their “90210 ”Costar

Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty have more in common than just starring on Beverly Hills, 90210.

On the latest episode of her Misspelling podcast, Spelling, 50, admitted that she didn’t know that Doherty had also had hooked up with their former costar Brian Austin Green.

“I did not know, until I listened to your podcast, that you hooked up with Brian,” Spelling told Doherty, 53.

Doherty clarified that her fling with Green happened “way later” in her career, adding, “Maybe I was doing Charmed? I don’t know, it was so much later [than Beverly Hills, 90210]."

She recalled the pair not having chemistry during their “short-lived” romance. Doherty explained, “We tried something, and we just went, ‘Yeah this isn’t going to work. The kissing didn’t even make sense.”

After Spelling noted that she couldn’t “even imagine” Doherty and Green kissing, Doherty responded, “I can’t imagine it now, either. That’s why it didn’t go anywhere because it was awkward. It was super awkward."

“There were no fireworks. We were so close, and we had known each other like we were little kids essentially,” she added. “I love Brian, he’s one of my favorite humans. But there was no spark.”

Spelling replied, “We've shared even more than I thought,” and Doherty added, “We shared Brian's saliva.”

Later in the podcast, Spelling further detailed her off-screen relationship with Green, admitting that “fell head over heels” in love with the actor, who she considers her “first love of my life.”

“I was young, and I was caught up in it,” she shared of the relationship which began when she was still dating a guy she lost her virginity to. She then asked, “Do you feel like I was really in love with Brian?”

“No, I think it was teenage obsession,” Doherty said. Spelling clarified, “Like infatuation?” and she agreed.

Spelling then reflected on her history with Green, who is now engaged to former Dancing with the Stars pro, Sharna Burgess.

“It’s been 30 years, we’re just friends,” she shared. “I love his fiancée, it’s not that. But if he says something to me, I get so flustered and riled up, and it takes me right back to being my 18-year-old self.”

The actress admitted that Green has been supportive of her as she navigates her divorce from husband Dean McDermott.

"You know how close Brian and I are. I tell him everything. We're brother and sister and best friend so close. We can have that connection…," she said. "Recently we were talking about my situation and being in love and being crushed, being hurt, and moving on and now being single and the next chapter in my life. He's been so great and such a champion. At times he gives me such inspiring words of you can do it professionally and personally."

During one of their chats, Spelling admitted that she told him about her feelings back then.

"I made some commentary, like, 'No, I was in love. Maybe I wasn't in love. I'm not sure. No one's broken my heart since you,'" she shared. "And there was like pause, pause. And I was like, 'Oh my god, this is the first time I've said it in 30 years.'"
