Shelter-in-place advisory lifted in Smiths Falls
Police in Smiths Falls, Ont., are no longer asking residents around Lavinia and Lombard streets to stay inside and others to avoid the area because of an unspecified "active incident."
The town's police force said in a social media post Thursday afternoon around 12:45 p.m. that people there should shelter in place or stay inside until further notice.
Notice that was no longer needed came around 3:15 p.m.
As of that time, roads remained closed in the area south of the Rideau River. Smiths Falls police said provincial police were also involved.
The scene is about 65 kilometres southwest of downtown Ottawa.
