Sophie Turner’s friendship with Taylor Swift couldn’t have blossomed at a more perfect time.
Last September, when the Game of Thrones actress’ estranged husband, Joe Jonas, filed for divorce after four years of marriage, she found herself in New York without a place for her and her children, daughters Willa and Delphine, to stay. That is until she reached out to her pal Swift to see if the “Treacherous” singer, 34, knew of anyone renting properties. To Turner’s surprise, the mega pop star immediately offered up her apartment for free.
“Taylor was an absolute hero to me this year,” the Do Revenge actress, 28, shared in her June 2024 British Vogue cover story. “I’ve never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me and provided us with a home and a safe space.”
“She really has a heart of gold,” added Turner.
As many know, Swift briefly dated Turner’s husband, now 34, years ago, between July and October of 2008, and even wrote a song about their short-lived romance, "Forever & Always,” on her Fearless album. Though Turner and the Grammy-winning “Anti-Hero” artist met around a decade ago, they didn’t build on their friendship until the former's recent split.
The pair, however, have still shown support for each other on social media and at different events over the years. They even rocked matching hairstyles during a joint appearance on The Graham Norton Show in May 2019, where they were all smiles to prove there was no “Bad Blood” between them, despite Turner being newly married to Jonas at the time.

Fast-forward to Sept. 19, 2023, Swift and Turner made headlines after stepping out for a girls’ night together in N.Y.C., just a few weeks after the latter’s divorce news broke. Shortly after, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the X-Men: Dark Phoenix actress was staying at Swift’s N.Y.C. home with her two daughters, Willa, 3½ and Delphine, 22 months.
“Sophie is doing OK. She is happy to be back with her girls," an insider close to the mom of two said at the time. "Working in Europe was very hard for her. She missed her girls."
"Taylor has opened her home to Sophie," the source continued. "Sophie is welcome there any time. Taylor continues to be a great friend."
Turner and Swift were spotted hanging out in N.Y.C. again a couple of days, this time with a group of the singer’s celebrity friends — which include Blake Lively and Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who’s also teammates with Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Most recently, Turner showed love to Swift’s chart-topping The Tortured Poets Department album on its April 19 release day by sharing the singer’s "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" track on her Instagram Story, per Entertainment Tonight.
Swift herself is currently performing on the European leg of her Eras Tour, which kicked off earlier this month with four shows in Paris, surprising fans with an updated setlist that includes songs from her latest album. Kelce, in addition to friends Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid, attended one of the “Fortnight” singer’s shows over the weekend. Up next, Swift has tour stops in Solna, Sweden, on May 17, 18 and 19.
