The Spice Girls huge 2019 tour was “bittersweet” without Victoria Beckham, according to Melanie Chisholm.
Better known as Mel C or Sporty Spice, the singer has opened up about the tour which saw her and bandmates Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Geri Horner take to the road on a stadium tour without Beckham.
Though it proved a huge success, Chisholm has admitted “there was something missing” as they carried on as a four piece without Posh Spice.
Talking to the BBC, she said: "Not having Victoria on stage last year, you know, it was bittersweet. The shows were phenomenal but there was someone missing."
However, discussing the positive elements, she added: "Being on stage with the girls made me feel so buoyant and so positive. We didn't really get the whole legacy and the impact until last year.
"Working with the girls last year reminded me of this whole world. We were so fortunate to have this international appeal and I'd love to tour all those places again."
A further reunion has been rumoured, with some believing something could happen next year to align with the group’s 25 year anniversary.
However, according to Chisholm, arranging something would be difficult due to each member’s hectic work schedules.
She explained: "Trust me, it's a miracle we ever do anything, because we're impossible. But when we do, it's like the stars align and magic happens."
In the meantime, fans of Chisholm’s music have a solo album to look forward to. According to the singer, her upcoming, self-titled album is one she wants “people to dance to” and be “empowered by”.
She is joined on the album by performers such as singer Rae Morris and rapper Nadia Rose.
The album will be released on 2 October.
