TORONTO. x–16s. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is requiring all registered gaming operators who offer sports betting to stop accepting wagers on World Boxing Association events. The regulator has concerns that W-B-A-sanctioned boxing matches don’t have adequate safeguards in place to protect against match fixing and insider betting. C-E-O Karin Schnarr says the regulator detected suspicious betting activity on a December title fight in Florida and W-B-A events can be reinstated if operators can show those matches are effectively supervised.
