Stadium seats damaged in Regina hail storm

Workers are examining the state of some temporary seats at Mosaic Stadium in Regina following an intense hail storm.

An intense hail storm pounded Regina Friday afternoon damaging a set of temporary seats at the city's Mosaic Stadium.

The seats were added to the football stadium so that more tickets could be sold to the Grey Cup game, which Regina is hosting.

"Crews are currently working to assess and repair the damage," the Saskatchewan Roughriders said in a news release Friday afternoon. "At this time it is believed that the damage was limited to the seats only and there was no structural damage to the temporary stands."

The football club said the temporary stands will remain closed until contractors have done a thorough investigation and have re-certified the stands for public use.

There was no immediate word on what effect the closure would have for any tickets sold for an upcoming home game for the Riders. On Sunday the team hosts the Hamilton Tiger Cats at Mosaic Stadium.
