Standoff at S.E. Calgary restaurant ends with arrest

One man is in custody after a lengthy overnight standoff with police at a southeast Calgary restaurant.

The incident began at Tops Pizza and Steak House at Fairmount Drive and Southland Drive S.E. at about 7:30 p.m. MT.

People in the vicinity were removed from the scene while police dealt with the situation.

The man was arrested with help from the K-9 unit after being holed up in the restaurant for about eight hours.

There were no injuries.
