Here is Stanislaus District fans’ pick for The Bee’s Boys Prep of the Week

John Labno was Hilmar’s most productive offensive player in the Yellowjackets’ first Trans Valley League win in their league opener against Livingston.

A junior in his third varsity season, Labno had his best game as a Yellowjacket, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs, both career highs. He also scored three runs, walked twice and stole a base.

The offense followed his lead, putting up more than 10 runs in a 12-3 win. Defensively, pitcher Jackson Takhar went the full game and struck out 12 batters.

The fans noticed his performance, voting him The Bee’s Boys Player of the Week.

Labno came in first, collecting 43% of the votes in the weekly poll. He finished ahead of Central Catholic runner Zachary Early and Hughson baseball player Paul Wagner who were second and third, respectively.
