Stranded Boaters Airlifted From Maine River by US Coast Guard

A group of men were rescued from the Penobscot River in Bradley, Maine, on November 11 after the boat they were in got caught on rocks.

Footage from the nearby Old Town Fire Rescue shows a US Coast Guard helicopter airlifting one of the men to safety.

According to a local report, the boaters were from the University of Maine, and it was unclear why they were on the river.

“We can’t get a boat in this section of the river because the water is so low. A lot of metal, a lot of rocks. Our last resort was to call the Coast Guard out of Cape Cod and they came up and pulled all four to safety,” Cpt Mike Hildreth from Old Town Fire Rescue told WABI.
