Strictly Come Dancing winner Joe McFadden will join the cast of 2:22 - A Ghost Story on London's West End later this month.

The Holby City actor will appear in the acclaimed theatre show as Sam, alongside documentarian Stacey Dooley in her stage debut at Jenny, and The Inbetweeners' James Buckley reprising the role of Ben.

Announcing the role, McFadden said in a statement: "I’m really stoked to be returning to the West End in this much-loved, hit show and its latest production at the Gielgud Theatre with this fantastic cast. It’s a beautifully crafted script that has plenty of scares and is hilarious in places and I can’t wait to see what audiences make of our version."

Byker Grove star Donna Air has also joined the cast alongside McFadden and will appear as Lauren when the show appears at the Gielgud Theatre from May 25 to August 4.

Reacting to her casting, The Split actor Air said: "I’m so excited to be playing the role of Lauren in one of my favourite plays in the West End - 2.22. I’m looking forward to getting back on stage and seeing you all there!"

Created by Danny Robins, the thriller debuted in the West End in 2021 and has since been seen by more than 690,000 people and received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best New Play in 2022.

A synopsis for the show reads: "Jenny believes her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam isn't having any of it.

"They argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren and new partner Ben. Can the dead really walk again? Belief and scepticism clash, but something feels strange and frightening, and that something is getting closer."

Tickets for 2:22 A Ghost Story at the Gielgud Theatre go on sale on April 24. The play will run from May 25 through to August 4.
