Student, 15, injured after sports car collides with North Texas school bus: officials

A 15-year-old school bus passenger was injured Friday afternoon in Ellis County after the bus was struck by a sports car and landed in a ditch, officials said.

An Ellis County Co-Op school bus was headed north on Farm to Market Road 55 near Goodwyn Road around 4:30 p.m. when a Maserati Ghibli traveling south veered into the bus’s lane. The bus moved to the right but was hit by the Maserati on the left side, according to a Department of Public Safety news release.

The bus rolled on its side and landed in the ditch.

The bus driver and the Maserati’s driver and passenger weren’t injured, the release said.

The one passenger on the bus, a 15-year-old, suffered minor injuries in the crash. The teen was transported to a local hospital, according to the release. The crash is still under investigation.
