Student struck by vehicle walking to Horry high school on final day of school year

A St. James High School student was hit by a vehicle Wednesday morning while crossing the roadway near the school.

The student was walking across Salem Road in the Burgess area when she was hit by the vehicle, according to an email from Horry County Schools spokesperson Lisa Bourcier.

Bourcier said that the student was alert and sitting up, responding to questions. She was transported to the hospital by emergency personnel.

This is the last day of the school year for Horry County Schools’ students.
