Suspects in Gatineau home robbery armed with shotgun, hammer

Police have two men in custody after a home invasion at a house in Gatineau Tuesday night.

Six people were in the house on Dumas Street at around midnight when two men entered armed with a hammer and a 12-gauge shotgun, police said.

One of the residents suffered a minor head injury after confronting the man with the hammer.

The two suspects then fled with some valuables in two sports bags, police said.

Gatineau police arrested a man 20 minutes later and said they found a shotgun when they searched the bags. The man, who is in his 20s, remains in police custody. Another man in his 20s is also in custody. No charges have been laid.

Gatineau police have investigated a series of home invasions in the last month. Quebec provincial police are also investigating a home invasion at a residence in Plaisance, Que., on Monday night.
