Taber’s Table migrating downtown for 2024

Taber’s Table 2024 will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024 in downtown Taber.

“We are closing a street and putting one long table up for everyone to enjoy,” said Amy Allred, Economic Development Manager for the Town of Taber. “47 Avenue between 51 Street and 52 Street will be transformed that evening to a celebration of local food. This region has so many incredible people and companies involved in the agri-food world, and this evening is two-fold. First to celebrate the people and companies, and second to open the door to other people who have yet to experience the good food and people of this region.”

Allred says that the ‘doors’ to the event will open at 5:30 p.m., and the food will begin rolling out at 6 p.m. with Appetizer Service followed by the rest of the courses. The entertainment this year, Allred says, will be Lethbridge Symphony’s Quartet “Museus” performing and the presenting sponsor, Canada’s Premier Food Corridor, will be MC-ing the evening.

The event, Allred says, is open to anyone over 18, as there is alcohol being served, and tickets are $100 a piece and can be purchased directly on Eventbrite. In addition to tickets, Allred says, a local company, Whirlwind Woodcraft, has created some beautiful wood products including cutting boards, charcuterie and coasters that are available to purchase on Eventbrite as well.

“The Joint Economic Development Committee started the event in 2023 with a vision to bring to light and celebrate the great agri-food economy in our region,” said Allred. “There are so many growers, producers, distillers, vendors and more that are worth celebrating.”

Allred says that the inaugural event in 2023 was a tremendous success and the food was enjoyed by all.

“The Joint Economic Development Committee oversees the event and is the greatest champion for it,” said Allred. “Representatives from a number of municipalities, local vendors and growers, as well as the amazing chef team are all hard at work preparing for this event. This region has so much to offer and bringing that to light is important, this industry is full of entrepreneurial people who work hard every day and deserve to be recognized. Canada’s Premier Food Corridor (CFPC) says that, ‘Southern Alberta can feed the world.’ And we can, with incredible variety.”
