Taylor Swift Fans Are Unpacking the ‘Poetic’ Symbolism of Travis Kelce’s Surprise Eras Tour Performance

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce just reached an unprecedented relationship milestone.

On June 23, Swift brought the NFL player on stage for her performance of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” during her third London Eras Tour concert. In front of the sold-out Wembley Stadium audience—which included Sir Paul McCartney, Sophie Turner, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge—Kelce came out in full costume to join the vaudeville act during The Tortured Poets Department set.

Obviously, fans were losing their minds at the stadium and online.

As one Swiftie joked on X.com, it looks as if he was ready for his closeup after attending the previous two shows in London.

None of Swift’s partners have ever been implemented into one of her tour concerts, though Matty Healy made a few cameos during Phoebe Bridgers’s opening performances in June. The closest we’ve come to something like this is when Swift brought ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner on stage after launching the “I Can See You" music video in July—and while his back flip was certainly notable, it’s got nothing on Travis Kelce, in a full suit and top hat, literally carrying Swift onstage.

Travis Kelce'’s Eras Tour debut comes after Taylor Swift hard-launched the three-time Super Bowl champion on Instagram on June 22. Fans were quick to notice that Kelce wore a Team USA hat in the group selfie with British royals Prince William, Princess Charlotte, and Prince George, which was taken at her first Eras Tour performance the evening prior in London. You know, the hometown of Swift’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn. “Taylor Swift the comedian that you are,” one fan posted after making the connection.

Many Swifties are also pointing out that “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” comes directly after Swift performs “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” a song largely believed to be about another London-born ex, Matty Healy. “There is something extremely poetic about Travis Kelce carrying Taylor Swift away after her heart was shattered,” one fan wrote of Kelce’s performance during the TTPD transition.

It’s crazy to think that this entire relationship started after Travis Kelce failed to deliver Taylor Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at an Eras Tour concert in July 2023. If this doesn’t prove manifestation is real, I don’t know what does.
