Coroner identifies teenager who died in early morning shooting on the Mississippi Coast

A teenager died Monday after a shooting in Gulfport, police said.

Christopher Brown, 16, of Gulfport died of a single gunshot wound, Harrison County coroner Brian Switzer said.

The shooting occurred about 1:28 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Darby Street, Gulfport Police said in a news release.

Police responded to the scene and found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound, the release said.

Authorities rushed Brown to a hospital, where he died, according to the release.

Police have made no arrests, Gulfport Police Sgt. Jason Ducre said Monday morning.

An investigation is ongoing. Police did not release more information.
