Teghan's top 5 things to do this weekend in Winnipeg (March 3-5)
Throw away your plans 'cause these are all things I would try to make it to this weekend.
Friday night is packed with the opening of Seema Goel's Neurocraft, the Dave Merheje show at the Park Theatre, a three-band album release at The Good Will and a huge party in the Piano Nobile at the Centennial Concert Hall.
Saturday, there's a little photography storefront opening at The Forks and another installation of Smithfits.
Sunday I have very little for you except for recovery from Friday and Saturday night or maybe a ballet matinee.
WHAT: ART — Seema Goel's Neurocraft
When: Friday, March 3, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: John Buhler Research Centre atrium, 715 McDermot Ave.

Goel is curating a show at the Health Sciences Centre that's a really interesting mash-up of science and art.
Neurocraft had artists team up with neuroscientists to make work inspired by the brain.
The opening reception is Friday, and it's free to check out.
There'll be work by ash alberg, Dana Kletke, Heather Komus, Michelle Wilson and a bunch more.
If you can't catch it Friday, this one will run until March 31.
WHAT: COMEDY — Daryn Jones and Dave Merheje
When: Friday, March 3, 8 p.m.
Where: The Park Theatre, 698 Osborne St.

The Park Theatre is continuing its run of bringing in really funny people from far away to tell jokes in South Osborne.
This weekend, they've got Dave Merheje and Daryn Jones, an adorable comedy odd couple.
Jones does a bit more clean, Winnipeg Comedy Festival-type stuff, and if you caught Merheje's sets at WCF or Oddblock this past year, you know his stuff is totally different.
They are both big names in Canadian comedy right now, but you know I'll always send you to a Merheje show.
If you're missing Oddblock, you should really check this out.
Best plans include a stop at Vera first for some amazing pizza and affordable prosecco.
WHAT: MUSIC — Ultra Mega, Blond(e) Goth and Smoky Tiger album release
When: Friday, March 3, 9 p.m.
Where: The Good Will, 625 Portage Ave.
Cost: $10
A very Winnipeg thing is happening Friday night at The Good Will.
Three local bands are becoming one giant, humongous, sprawling band (jk it's only six guys) and releasing a bunch of albums.
Blond(e) Goth, Ultra Mega and Smoky Tiger all have albums coming out, and they share members, so they're going to do the album releases together and then perform selections from the albums on stage together. It's kind of like a musician's musical chairs party.
Anyway, they're calling this new manifestation the Manitobandits, and if you like folk/alt-country/Americana, you'll probably be into this.
Plus, they all seem to like to wear hats, which is very relatable and cute, right?
Basic Nature is opening, so you'd be doing yourself a disservice by showing up late.
WHAT: PHOTOGRAPHY — From Here & Away opening
When: Saturday, March 4, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: The Forks, 1 Forks Market Rd.
Cost: FREE
From Here & Away is opening a storefront location and a community workspace at The Forks.
The official opening is Saturday night, and founder Joseph Visser will be there to talk about FH&A and the upcoming photography workshops.
The space is going to be part shop (selling FH&A stuff) and part community space, so people can get resources/space to work and hang out with other creative people.
This one isn't licensed, but the Common is open right below them and you can walk around with your beer in there because they have a special licence. Go check this out and then head to Smithfits!
WHAT: BALLET — RWB's Love Lies Bleeding/Electric Ballet
When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Where: Centennial Concert Hall, 555 Main St.
Cost: $29 to $115
The Royal Winnipeg Ballet has a great show on this weekend.
They've brought in the Alberta Ballet to do Love Lies Bleeding, which has 14 Elton John songs and some incredible costumes.
There are shows all weekend, but on Friday there's a big Culture Club party in the Piano Nobile at the concert hall.
Starting at 9:30 p.m., there'll be drinks, music, a drag show, a fashion show and a bunch more.
The party is part Pride Winnipeg, part RWB and part Culture Club, so there will be a lot to check out and a lot of lovely people there.
If you can't make Friday's show (there is a ton going on that night), there's another one Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
