Lizzie McGuire fans have been looking forward to the show's big reboot on Disney+ since it was first announced and it looks like they might be getting some good news pretty soon.

According to Instagram user (and hardcore Lizzie Mcguire fan) @peterstanslizzie, the writers of the Lizzie McGuire reboot recently got together on Zoom. One surprising thing about their little online meeting is that original creator and showrunner, Terri Minsky, can also be seen.

This picture shows Terri Minsky (@terriminsky) and the writers and screenwriters of the Lizzie Mcguire revival show having an online meeting 💻 during the lockdown period. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I wonder what they were all discussing about? 🤔 Do you think that a new deal has been worked out between Terri and @disneyplus? I sure hope so 🙏⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ As you know, Disney made a huge mistake for firing Terri in January as showrunner of the new Lizzie Mcguire series that was supposed to air in November 2020. And since then, the company has definitely faced a lot of backlash ❌ from the show's fans in the form of negative press and a couple of petitions demanding to bring Terri back in order to maintain the adult themes that this show deserves to have. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ With this photo popping up, it could be very possible that Disney has listened to the fans and recognised the fact that we were not happy with their decision. Obviously, there's nothing much they can say or do at the moment in regards to production as pretty much all of the on-going productions in Hollywood were put on hiatus due to recent events. But I hope that this online meeting is an indication that things are being planned and that we WILL eventually get our show 💕❤.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣#lizziemcguire #disney #disneyplus #disneychannel #hilaryduff #terriminsky #zoommeeting #digitalmeeting #disneynostalgia #early2000s #writersroom ⁣ ⁣⁣

Terri was originally a part of the reboot until she was fired after Disney+ executives saw the first two episodes of the new series and determined that it was not family friendly enough for the new streaming giant.

Hilary Duff previously opened up about the possibility of the show moving to Hulu, which is also owned by Disney, in an effort to keep the original content and storylines of the reboot. Love, Victor, the highly-anticipated Love, Simon reboot, is moving services for the same reason.

The series star also talked about the reboot in an interview with People and confirmed that she is still involved with the project, while talks continue about where the show will go.

"There’s still conversations going on in hopes that we can find a way to meet in the middle and both bend a little bit. I understand that they have to protect their brand and there’s pretty strict guidelines on what that looks like," she said. "I just have to make sure it’s the right move for me and that I feel like I’m honoring her and the character, and that it will be relatable to the people who grew up with her because those are the people I really want to speak to."

The original pilot episode included a storyline that involved someone cheating on their partner by having sex with another person. While Hilary has said that this would be a fitting storyline for Lizzie as she is now 30-years-old, Disney+ execs are hoping to keep the show within the PG range for the streamer.

Hopefully, we'll get some good news from all of them pretty soon. Until then, fans can still check out the original series on Disney+.
