It might have somewhat of a reputation for being a hotbed of trolling and anonymous people – but there’s some really, really good people out there on Twitter.

And Ginny McQueen is the very proof of that, after deciding to do something extremely lovely with her Grandmother’s engagement ring – which she never wears.

Instead of letting it languish in a cupboard, Ginny has instead decided to give it away to a couple who can’t afford their own ring – so that it can provide love and happiness once more.

Praising the hugely generous offer, one user wrote: ‘The fact that you are finding it a home for someone who needs it, rather than trying to sell or pawn it, speaks volumes about your character. I’m so glad to know you, and be a part of your life, even if it’s a small one.’

It’s huge praise, although that’s really not what Ginny is looking for. Instead, she’s looking for a couple that can provide each with 50 years of happiness.

She wrote: ‘Simple return on investment equation. Someone might be happy for like 50 years or maybe even for like a couple days. Which is worth way more than pawning my grandmother’s ring.’

It’s one of the nicest things we’ve seen this year.
