TikTok couple and The Unplanned Podcast co-hosts Matt and Abby Howard have revealed that they plan to “boycott Father’s Day” this year.

On their podcast, the high school sweethearts typically “dive into genuine conversations surrounding relationships & family.”

During a recent episode, which was released on Wednesday, May 29, the two revealed that they would be not marking Father’s Day until September of this year in order to avoid celebrating the holiday and Matt’s birthday at the same time.

Abby, who was pregnant at the time, explained in the episode that she “combined the holidays” in 2023. “Last year, Father’s Day fell on June 18, which is Matt’s birthday, and he had Father’s Day and his birthday on the same day,” she explained.

Matt called their 2023 plans “a bummer” after the holiday and his special day were celebrated together. But he also acknowledged that there was a lot going on that day as well.

Abby explained that she and Matt had “just gotten back from [their] baby moon” in Mexico the same day, but was still “disappointed” in herself for not doing more for her husband. She then revealed that she got him a “cake from Dairy Queen (DQ)” and “we had just our family over” while Matt grilled for everyone.
