Timothée Chalamet Becomes First Actor Since John Travolta to Break This Box Office Record
The actor, 28, has met huge box office success with his most recent films 'Wonka' and 'Dune: Part Two'
Timothée Chalamet is the new king of the box office!
Chalamet, 28, has become the first actor after John Travolta to have two top-grossing films in eight months since the record was made over four decades ago.
According to Indiewire, Chalamet’s most recent films Wonka and Dune: Part Two — in which he plays leading roles — are the only two films to have surpassed the domestic $200 million total since last July.
The last actor to achieve this rare feat was Travolta, 70, back in the 1970s for his films Saturday Night Fever and Grease, which were released eight months apart between 1977 and 1978.
Wonka is the third live-action adaption of Roald Dahl’s children’s novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and sees Chalamet play the iconic chocolate connoisseur Willy Wonka. The film opened to rave reviews after its release in December and grossed a domestic total of $218 million and $630 million worldwide.
Chalamet’s new hit film Dune: Part Two was released on March 1. In the sci-fi sequel, he stars as Paul Atreides opposite costars Zendaya, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken and Florence Pugh. The film also received a stellar reception, achieving $494.7 million globally.
It is expected that Dune 2 will overtake Chalamet’s earlier film Wonka’s gross total next week, per Indiewire.

The biopic will reportedly center around Dylan's controversial transition to the electric guitar and his journey to becoming a folk music legend, per Deadline. Chalamet is also tipped to be singing in character as Dylan in the film after his great musical performance in Wonka, according to director James Mangold.
Chalamet stars in the biopic alongside Edward Norton, who is playing folk singer Pete Seeger, and Elle Fanning who plays Dylan's love interest, Sylvie Russo, according to Deadline.
