The son of slain St. Louis police officer Blake Snyder received an early Christmas present this year: two teddy bears made from his father’s uniform.

Elizabeth Snyder posted a photo of her son Malachi, 2, beaming as he holds the two stuffed animals.

“These beautiful bears were made for us from Blake’s uniforms,” she wrote.

“Love you always” and “Always with you” are stitched into the bears paws. They were made by a family friend.

“He’s been asking for his daddy a lot which is hard,” Snyder told KTVI. “I don’t know how to respond to him yet. Every time I look at him, I’m also reminded of my husband not coming home.”

Officer Snyder was shot on Oct. 6 while responding to a disturbance call.
