Toronto drivers arrested after 2 serious collisions

A pair of crashes overnight has left several people injured, two people in handcuffs and a mess for cleanup crews to deal with Monday morning in Toronto.

The first collision took place on Scarlett Road at Lawrence Avenue at around 12 a.m. A T-bone crash involving two cars left bits of plastic and glass littered in the middle of the intersection.

Toronto police cruisers and ambulances responded to the incident. One man was taken into custody under suspicion of impaired driving while another man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police say officers from 23 Division are investigating.

Eglinton Avenue crash

At around 1 a.m., five vehicles were involved in a crash on Eglinton Avenue at the Don Valley Parkway. Two vehicles rolled over with one found on its side and the other completely flipped.

Two people were taken to hospital following the incident, but there's no word on injuries at this time. One of the drivers was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

The eastbound lanes of Eglinton Avenue were closed for most of the night for a cleanup and police investigation.
