2 young girls found wandering on Toronto street reunited with mother

Toronto police say two young girls found wandering on a Scarborough street early Saturday have been reunited with their mother.

Police say the girls, both aged 3, were found on Flora Drive and Porter Crescent near Lawrence Avenue East and Kennedy Road.

They said a man who spotted the girls called them at around 6:55 a.m. because he thought it was strange that they were wandering outside without a parent.

The girls were wearing pink shirts, pants and sandals and police believe they simply woke up early, got dressed and went outside together.

Const. Brent Sullivan of 41 Division said the mother came to the station to pick up the girls.

Saturday's incident is the second this week in which a young child was found wandering on city streets.

On Monday, a three-year-old girl slipped out of her house in the middle of the night after getting dressed, putting on her rain boots and unlocking the door. Her parents were sleeping at the time.

She was found at a nearby store, police were called and her parents were located.

The girl watched cartoons with officers while she waited for her parents. Police said the parents called them when they woke up and found her missing.
