Manchester United expected Bruno Fernandes to play his final game for Sporting CP this evening against Benfica before heading to Old Trafford, and want to clinch the £60million transfer - reported to be £43m up front and £17m in add-ods - soon.

United have also been offered the chance to sign Edinson Cavani this summer – but the PSG striker will not be available in January, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Chelsea meanwhile are battling Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side for the signature of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare, Sky Sports report.

Leicester have reportedly identified Ryan Bertrand as a replacement for Ben Chilwell, with Chelsea eager to sign the England left-back.

When does the January transfer window close?

Transfer deadline day is on Friday, January 31, 2020. The window will close at 11pm GMT, with Premier League sides needing to submit deal sheets before that time to be able to complete all of the necessary documentation on a deal after the deadline has passed.
