Love is in the air and on the field. The Kansas City Chiefs, back-to-back Super Bowl winners and currently the number-one-ranked team among Swifties, are getting into the movie game. The team just announced that it will partner with The Hallmark Channel to make a football-themed Christmas movie. Also, Hallmark was founded in Kansas City. Who knew!

According to a press release on the Chiefs’ website, the plot summary for Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, is this: “Alana Higman (Hunter King) is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s ‘Fan of the Year’ contest. Derrick (Tyler Hynes), Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists. As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them, but when her grandfather’s (Ed Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs, good luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick—unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.”

So, okay, couple of things here. First of all, yes, Ed Begley, Jr., is in this movie. Second of all, the plot has nothing to do with pop stars or Taylor Swift, so put the fan-fiction pens down. Third of all, if you live in Kansas City and you are over 18 and you are free from July 6 to July 27, you can apply to be an extra in the movie here. They’re filming at Arrowhead Stadium, so they’ll need a lot of people to fill those stands.

We don’t yet have a release date for Holiday Touchdown, but it’s set to premiere as part of Hallmark’s annual Countdown to Christmas event, so probably December. It’s a movie about a hat!
