Tributes paid as former Steel Pulse drummer dies
Tributes have been paid after the death of Conrad Kelly, the former drummer in reggae band Steel Pulse.
Kelly, who was born in Jamaica and performed with many local community bands, died on Wednesday aged 65, Steel Pulse said.
He had played in the Birmingham-based band for more than a decade after joining in 1994.
"Steel Pulse send our condolences to his friends and family, especially to his brothers Bruce and Alvin, who we use to run the streets with," the band said.
Hundreds of people have spoken about the drummer on social media, including band UB40, who "sent condolences to his friends and family" after hearing the "very sad news".
"Conrad also worked with UB40 for a while as percussionist, standing in for Norman Hassan when he was too ill to tour," the band added.
