TTC negotiations ‘at an impasse’ as transit strike looms, union says

Negotiations are “at an impasse” as the deadline to reach a deal in order to avoid a Toronto transit strike looms, union president Marvin Alfred said on Thursday. “We have a major problem with our negotiating situation right now where the TTC is not bargaining in order to get a deal,” he said, representing 12,000 TTC workers. Alfred noted that if a bargain is not made, TTC workers will go on strike starting at midnight – though service will continue until 2 a.m. Friday.
