Two dead, including 19-year-old, in Jackson County crash, according to MS authorities

Two vehicles collided Tuesday afternoon on Highway 614 in Jackson County in a crash that left two people dead, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred at 4:30 p.m. near Highway 614 and Slider Road in Hurley, Cpl. Calvin Robertson said.

Blayne Christopher Blair, 19, and James Tarrell Davis, 80, of Moss Point, died at the scene, the highway patrol said.

A 2011 Dodge Ram Pickup traveling west and 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driving east collided on the highway, according to the highway patrol.

Robertson said Tuesday evening that the crash victims were in the same vehicle, but a news release sent Wednesday said Blair was a passenger in the Dodge Ram and Davis was driving the Silverado.

Highway 614 was closed in both directions around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The Highway Patrol did not immediately release more information.
