Two house fires ruled accidental by P.E.I. fire marshal

The P.E.I. Fire Marshal's Office has ruled the cause of two structure fires that took place on May 17 as accidental.

A origin of a structure fire in Egmont Bay, P.E.I., that extensively damaged a one and half storey residence was in the ceiling space of an upstairs bedroom.

The fire marshall said the cause can be attributed to a malfunction in the home's electrical system.

A second fire on the same day in Central Kildare, P.E.I., caused fire damage to one room on the lower level and smoke and water damage throughout the two-storey home.

The fire marshal said that fire began in the recreation room on the lower level and the cause attributed to a malfunction in a piece of electronic equipment.
