Two North Texas residents strike gold with $1M lottery prize wins

Luck has shone brightly on North Texas as residents from Plano and Allen stepped forward to claim substantial lottery prizes.

A Plano resident, who opted to remain anonymous, has claimed a Mega Millions prize worth $1 million following the drawing on July 2, according to a Texas Lottery news release. The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven Convenience Store located at 17605 Midway Road in Dallas. Alongside this windfall, the individual also secured an additional $4 from the same ticket. The winning Quick Pick ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn (4-8-19-31-45) but missed out on the Mega Ball number (11).

In a separate win, an Allen resident has also claimed a top prize worth $1 million in the Texas Lottery scratch ticket game Million Dollar Loteria. The ticket was purchased at Racetrac on 371 Stacy Road in Fairview. Like the Plano winner, the Allen resident has chosen to remain anonymous.

The Million Dollar Loteria game offers a staggering $384 million in total prizes, with overall odds of winning any prize standing at one in 3.29, including break-even prizes. This top prize claimed by the Allen resident is the first of 10 $1 million prizes offered in the game.

Mega Millions, known for its large jackpots, involves selecting five numbers from a pool of 70 and one Mega Ball number from a separate set of 25 numbers. While matching all six numbers is necessary to claim the jackpot, significant prizes are awarded for matching fewer numbers, as exemplified by the Plano resident’s $1 million second-tier prize.

Players can amplify their non-jackpot winnings through the Megaplier feature, which multiplies winnings by two, three, four, or five times for an additional dollar per play. This enhancement can boost non-jackpot prizes up to $5 million. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 10:12 p.m. CT.
