United Aircraft Engine Catches Fire Just Before Takeoff at Chicago O'Hare

A United Airlines flight aborted takeoff from Chicago O’Hare International Airport after one of its engines caught fire on Monday, May 27.

United Flight 2091 was about to take off from the airport on Monday afternoon when an engine caught fire, local media reported, citing officials.

Video from Ivan Paloalto shows smoke streaming from the wing of the plane.

Paloalto said the plane was taking off when he heard an explosion.

“I felt the impact on my window. As I looked, the engine was on fire and smoke was coming out,” he said.
